CHAPTER 2: First Contact

My hands are still trembling as my heart wants to leave my chest. I rip my blood smeared helmet off so as to see clearly. Vertigo hasn’t.I silence my thoughts as a search light sweeps through near where I stand. If there was a time to remain still, it was now. "Now!" I yell to myself as I ignore the pain and sprint for the entrance of this old barn. I drop to the ground as soon as inside. Pulsing pain instantly envelopes me. An old nail was playing tag with my veins and it was inside of me. The floor is wet and damp, much like the cattle barns when I was young. The stench is overpowering. I don't even want to know what was here before me.

I move to a corner where I see light streaming through the wall. Peering through my vantage point I see forms outside. Not human. Malformed. Their language reminds me of gorillas beating their chests mixed with grunts. Eyes glowed red as if the fire of hell itself burned within. You can feel the ground shutter in fear with each step. Claws drag along the facade as it splinters. Paralyzed in fear I continue to watch from my safe dark corner, waiting for them to move on in their campaign.

Oh G... a claw slowly wraps around me from behind followed by that unmistakable grunt. The stench now has its genesis. Going into shock, I can't move. I can't see. I can't breathe. My soul tries to escape.
